Modify host file in centos

I am trying to start the services of ProFTPd. There was an error found. The services cant start.

With my research from internet, I had been advices that to modify the host file. Over /etc/hosts

I add in two lines after the original hosts file.

ipaddress  hosts name

This settle my services start problem.
